Louis-Isidore Duperrey, master of maritime storytelling
Louis-Isidore Duperrey, a naval officer and explorer of the early 19th century, belongs to the great lineage of scientific travelers who mapped the world through an empirical and poetic eye. Influenced by the spirit of great expeditions, he combines rigorous observation with aesthetic sensibility, bringing his work closer to the naturalist narratives of the time. His sketches and watercolors, often created during distant campaigns, testify to mastery of the marine landscape and an ability to render changing light. This art print of Around the World captures the essence of these journeys and extends the visual heritage of exploration.
