Snowstorm on the Avenue: An invitation to emotion
The art print of Snowstorm on the Avenue draws the viewer into an urban street buried under snow, where light makes its way through the white veil. The composition captures movement: bundled silhouettes, foggy lampposts, and footprints rhythmically crossing the ground. The impasto and vigorous brushwork recreate the texture of snow, while a palette of whites, bluish grays, and ochres creates an atmosphere that is both cold and warm. This art print of Snowstorm on the Avenue evokes the poetic solitude of a city under storm and invites you to feel the wind's breath and the calm after the storm.
Guy Carleton Wiggins, master of early 20th-century urban landscape
Guy Carleton Wiggins, an American painter active at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, established himself through his snowy city scenes and his sense of urban picturesque. Influenced by Impressionism while remaining faithful to realistic observation, he skillfully translated the changing light of New York streets and the winter atmosphere with great virtuosity. Among his famous works, his snow-covered avenues and boulevards testify to a recognizable style: juxtaposition of light touches, deep perspective, and chromatic harmony. Wiggins's art captures the everyday poetry and the discreet elegance of modern landscapes.
