Sketchbook Pl108: An invitation to emotion
The reproduction of Sketchbook Pl108 captures the intimacy of a studio sketchbook, where quick lines and delicate touches respond to each other to create a visual vibration. The composition, made of superimposed sketches and blank spaces, plays with suggestion rather than description: graphite strokes, subtle washes, and punctuated accents form a minimalist palette with gray and warm nuances. Contemplating this artwork of Sketchbook Pl108, one feels the spontaneity of the artist's hand, the creative momentum, and the silence of a studio. Every detail invites observation and evokes an emotion close to intimate confidence, as if leafing through a visual journal.
Ariyoshi Kondo, master of contemporary gesture
Ariyoshi Kondo's art fits within a contemporary practice where drawing regains its role as a laboratory of ideas. Influenced by travel sketches and modern aesthetics of Japan and Europe, Kondo favors economy of line and modulation of values. His works, recognized for their finesse and immediacy, dialogue with the tradition of sketchbooks while offering a current sensitivity. Whether or not one is familiar with his entire oeuvre, this Sketchbook Pl108 testifies to an assertive gesture, a search for the essential, and an attentive eye to the ephemeral forms of everyday life.
