Tsukioka Yoshitoshi: master of ukiyo-e at the end of the Edo period
Born in 1839, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi is one of the last great masters of ukiyo-e, a style of Japanese art print that flourished during the Edo era. Influenced by the social and political upheavals of his time, he managed to incorporate modern elements while respecting traditional techniques. His works, often inspired by legends and popular stories, reflect deep artistic sensitivity and a keen sense of visual storytelling.
