Vintage Thonon-les-Bains Poster

Thonon-les-Bains poster by Roger Broders: the lake, sails and mountains

This reproduction of a vintage Thonon-les-Bains poster features a landscape signed by Roger Broders. In the foreground, a boat with large white sails moves across blue water. Behind it unfold red-roofed houses, greenery and the tall silhouette of a snow-covered mountain.

The sails draw you into the landscape

The two large sails occupy a substantial part of the composition. Their diagonal lines frame the village and guide the eye toward the mountains. The dark hull and its reflection anchor the boat at the bottom of the image, while a steamship appears near the shore.

The blue water contrasts with the green hills and the warm tones of the buildings. In the upper part of the image, the mountain’s paler colors suggest distance. The poster combines several clearly defined layers, from the nearby boat to the distant peaks.

A destination presented through image and lettering

The name “Thonon-les-Bains” appears in large black letters beneath the landscape. The slogan “Ses eaux, le lac, la montagne” — its waters, the lake, the mountain — sums up the elements depicted. Roger Broders’ signature and the initials PLM are visible in the lower corners of the illustration. These inscriptions belong to the reproduced document and contribute to its graphic identity.

To create a group of Alpine landscapes, pair this view with our vintage Évian-les-Bains poster. The Lake Annecy poster by Frédéric Hugo d’Alési offers another lakeside scene to explore. Find both designs in our vintage Alps poster collection. Before hanging them on the same wall, compare their colors and choose frames that bring the arrangement together.

A bright poster for your wall decor

In a living room, hallway or office, the white sails and blue lake create a clear contrast. Wood, cream textiles or a few touches of green can complement the colors in the image. The vertical format helps the eye follow the composition from the boat up to the mountain.
