Pavilions by the Seine, the 1900 exposition: An invitation to emotion
The scene opens on a lively bank where ephemeral architectures are reflected in the water’s sparkle; the composition of Pavilions by the Seine, the 1900 exposition, captures this moment with delicate sensitivity. The colors evoke the softness of the Belle Époque: warm ochres of the facades, reflected blues of the Seine, and luminous touches that animate the details. The technique combines drawing precision with pictorial freedom in the skies, offering a balance between clarity and poetry. Contemplating this art print, one feels the breeze, the murmur of walkers, and the fleeting majesty of the pavilions — a visual emotion that transforms a space into living memory.
Laure Brouardel, master of the fin de siècle
Laure Brouardel is part of the late 19th-century artistic tradition, influenced by the taste for universal exhibitions and urban panoramas. Her work reflects a modern perspective, attentive to the play of light and social atmospheres of the time. Inspired both by realist observers and by the chromatic innovations of the Impressionists, she favors visual storytelling and the finesse of architectural details. Among her most notable works are scenes of fairs and quays, where she skillfully translate collective life into aesthetic motifs. This art print pays tribute to her mastery of the subject and her sense of framing.
