About the artwork

Discover the story behind this artwork

Aylmer Bourke Lambert, in his art print 'Dammara Australis, New Zealand pitch tree or Cowrie', immerses us in the fascinating world of New Zealand flora. This piece highlights the unique characteristics of this tree, known for its valuable wood and its role in the local ecosystem. Lambert, as a botanist and artist, manages to capture the beauty and complexity of this species with remarkable attention to detail. The work, while an art print, also functions as a scientific document, reflecting the 19th-century interest in exotic plants and their study. Today, this art print can add a touch of authenticity and nature to modern interiors, creating a link between art and the environment. Art enthusiasts can discover the reproduction of this piece on Artem Legrand.
