Louis-Isidore Duperrey, master of scientific exploration
Louis-Isidore Duperrey's art is rooted in the age of great expeditions of the early 19th century, when scientific curiosity and attention to detail combined to document the world. Navigator and hydrographer, Duperrey marked his era with precise surveys and a sensitivity to marine and island landscapes; his works convey both accuracy and poetry.
