Skagen, where Northern light becomes art

In the far north of Denmark, where the seas of Skagerrak and Kattegat meet, lies Skagen — a legendary place for artists.
This fishing village, bathed in a unique and changing light, attracted at the end of the 19th century a group of painters who became legendary: the Skagen Painters. Seduced by the purity of the air, the golden beaches, and the simplicity of local life, they made this corner of Jutland a true symbol of Scandinavian art.

Through this collection, Artem Legrand pays tribute to Skagen, as it was magnified by Peder Severin Krøyer, Anna Ancher, Michael Ancher, Viggo Johansen, Laurits Tuxen, and Holger Drachmann.
These artists knew how to transform northern light into visual poetry — an art of silence, wind, and sunset.

The light of Skagen in your decor

Hanging an art print of Skagen is inviting the tranquil beauty and the incomparable brightness of the North into your home. The art prints of Skagen paintings evoke the long blonde beaches, summer evenings, the simple and warm interiors of fishermen, and the golden light that envelops everything.

These works perfectly match a Scandinavian, bohemian, natural, or modern decor, bringing clarity, softness, and balance.
A Krøyer seaside scene, a sunny portrait of Anna Ancher, or a family scene by Michael Ancher will give your walls a soothing and luminous atmosphere.

Skagen painting celebrates the union between man and nature, between everyday life and eternity.

The great painters of Skagen

Peder Severin Krøyer (1851–1909) is the most famous of the Skagen painters. His beach scenes bathed in blue light and his portraits of artists embody the quintessence of Nordic impressionism.
Anna Ancher (1859–1935), the only woman in the group, painted the interior light: her Danish interior paintings are true hymns to domestic warmth and human tenderness.
Michael Ancher (1849–1927) powerfully depicted the fishermen of Skagen, silent heroes of the sea and wind.
Viggo Johansen (1851–1935) excelled in family scenes and evening meals illuminated by dusk.
Laurits Tuxen (1853–1927) added a more monumental and colorful touch to the group's painting.
Finally, Holger Drachmann (1846–1908), both poet and painter, made Skagen an artistic myth celebrating the freedom and beauty of the North.

Together, they gave Skagen a universal aura — that of a place where light becomes emotion.

A collection for lovers of nature and northern light
